Season 7 Casting News: Charles Vandervaart as William!

We have our adult William, the Ninth Earl of Ellesmere, at long last! STARZ announced today that Canadian actor Charles Vandervaart has been cast to play William Ransom, the bastard son of Jamie Fraser, as an adult.

    Charles Vandervaart looks to be perfectly cast as William. He does look a lot like Sam Heughan. I can't wait to see his onscreen performance.
    Don't know why, but I am sitting here with a big silly grin on my face.
    Roll on season seven.

    Charles has big shoes to fill, both by his descriptions in the books and being Sam's on screen son. I think he'll be great. He has a strong chin, penetrating eyes and Geneva's dark hair. As Jamie's son, he'll have a commanding athletic presence and being raised by Lord John, he'll have the British arrogance and wry sense of humor. I have seen some of the male models that resemble Sam but they need a good actor and the casting (except for Lizzie, who is too big for the role) has been spot on. It's going to be a wild ride!
