Have you tried to get other people to read or watch OUTLANDER?

Diana Gabaldon often says that these are "word-of-mouth books, because they're too weird to describe to anybody." This month's poll asks the question, "Have you tried to get other people to read the OUTLANDER books or watch the TV series?" Please take a moment to vote.

I got my sister addicted to the books a few years ago, and I certainly have done my bit as an "OUTLANDER ambassador", helping to spread the word about the series in all its various forms. Here I am in 2010, on my first visit to the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in NC, with a handmade OUTLANDER sign.

What about the rest of you? If you've had some success with getting people hooked on OUTLANDER (books, TV show, or both), please leave a comment here or on my Outlandish Observations Facebook page, and tell us about it.

  1. So far I've convinced 3 friends, 2 cousins my mother in law, my sister in law and my mother to read the books. My sister read the first one when it came out but didn't like it enough to share or continue reading the series. I always mention the books when I can.
  2. Hi Karen , I gave my cousin who travels a lot and who lives in London the first books thinking she'd love as much as I do , but to no avail , I'm the only fan in my family , and my mom has watched the series , but didn't do much for her , she loves mysteries and I respect that , you can't make someone like anything you do I hope to get other in the future to love Outlander , but so far none , please post more soon. Happy Weekend. Sincerely .
  3. All the time. I often have bought copies of Outlander to give to people to get them hooked. Some cases it works, others not so much, but I'm stroll trying!
  4. Hi Karen , have you have heard people say anything negative about Outlander , I attended my cousins wedding this past December and at the reception and at dinner I was seated at a table with a few ladies and we were chatting about movies and TV shows and I happed to mention that I loved the Outlander series , the responses were positive , but a lot of comments were along the lines of "Boring' or not romantic enough , or too dull , or too violent , and a lot said that they have never seen it , so sometimes when I talk about Outlander not everybody loves as much as me or you , has this happened to you , will love Outlander forever , please post more soon Happy week. Sincerely .
  5. Well,I actually got criticized for commenting about how great Outlander is and encouraging people to watch it at a site that I frequent that discusses and translates Mexican telenovelas. Telenovelas seem to be showing less and less love and romance, so I was letting people know that Outlander is full of love and romance. Some folks seemed interested in giving the books a try.
